Most of the research speaks to what high schools can do to prepare and there is little about what services higher education can provide such as pre-college counseling in high school. Data and studies provide argument for the elimination of the traditional remediation programs and to replace with integrated learning or co-requisite tutoring with all ‘traditional classes’. Many argue that there is a need to define program of study early for those students identified as requiring some ‘remediation’ or assistance to better succeed in and complete college in a timely fashion.

Arendale, David R. “Understanding the Integrated Learning Course Model: Academic Transition to Tertiary Education.” International Journal of Higher Education 3, no. 4 (2014).

Handel, Stephen J., and Ronald A.
